The Honourable Baljit Gosal immigrated from India to British Columbia in 1981. Two years later Baljit and his wife, Pawanjit, moved across the country to Brampton, Ontario. It is in Brampton where Baljit became an active member of the community, raised his three children and established his life. In 2011 Baljit was elected to government as the Member of Parliament for Bramalea-Gore-Malton. Baljit was than appointed to represent the Peel Region at the cabinet table as the Minister of Sport, a role he has served until November 2015. Baljit earned a Bachelor of Science degree from DAV College Jalander/Punjab University in India and while in Prince George, Baljit obtained a Stationary Engineer 4th class Certificate. As an active member of the Brampton community, Baljit has been appointed to several different boards including Brampton Board of Trade, Peel Regional Police Services Board, YMCA Regional Council Board and Peel Children’s Aid Society. Further, Baljit has coached and organized youth amateur soccer in Brampton. Baljit began working in the production control department of McDonnell Douglas Canada in 1984. He entered the financial sector in 1994 as a financial and insurance advisor for Prudential of America Insurance, which later became London Life and Freedom55 Financial. In 2003 Baljit began working with Goodison Insurance and Financial Services. Baljit and Pawanjit began working with Rai Grant Insurance Brokers, as Associate Brokers in 2008. Baljit is now the Vice President of JSP Insurance and Financial Services Inc, an independent brokerage which joined ProLink Broker Network in May 2016.
